I’ve longed for one of these thick, warm arm knitted blankets for ages & when I came across a fellow member of our group and all round craft expert Amber, I jumped at the chance of arranging an activity where we could all learn her craft.

Amber owns Thread The Love, a company which she’s grown from her home in Rugby. Amber specialises in crochet, knitting and hosts workshops in Warwickshire and beyond, not to mention is incredibly talented!

I am really passionate about bringing our mums together, last year our Gin & Dessert night was so much fun and I realised that although I’ve arranged lots of family events, we Mums need time together too, without children. I have often thought about organising a meet up but I know some people understandably feel anxious about turning up somewhere alone and it struck me that to have something to concentrate and focus on was a real ice breaker.

So our first meet up was focussed on arm knitting! Lots of our Mums came along, many didn’t know anyone else and booked alone which made my heart smile! It can be hard to step out of your comfort zone and walk into a place with people you don’t know, so I was really happy that everyone came along. We had a lovely evening with drinks brought to our table (!) and Amber and Hayley walked us through how to Arm knit.

I can assure you, I have absolutely NO idea about knitting or the like, I cannot sew a button! Amber made our session calm, fun and easy and each of us left with a gorgeous, large and very snuggly blanket to be proud of! Here’s mine which fits across my double bed 😍
