We published an online survey for Mums, about what they REALLY want for Mother’s Day this year and we had 220 responses from Mum’s in Warwickshire!
Here’s what our survey found:
QUESTION ONE: Who usually buys your Mother’s Day Card of gift?
- My Partner – 152
- My parents on behalf of your children – 34
- My child’s school, or early years setting – 12

QUESTION TWO: How much would you estimate is normally spent on you for Mother’s Day?
- Nothing – 10
- £1 – £10 – 61
- £10 – £20 – 74
- £20 – £30 – 42
- £30 – £40- 16
- £40 – £50 -9
- £50+ – 8
QUESTION THREE: Do you spend more on Father’s Day than you expect is spent on you for Mother’s Day?
- I don’t buy a Father’s day present – 14
- Yes, I spend more – 66
- No, I spend less than I receive – 20
- I think I spend about the same as is spent on me – 120
QUESTION FOUR: What would you prefer on Mother’s Day?
- Just a card – 13
- Flowers and a card – 55
- A handmade item from my children – 113
- A lie in, or another gesture that money can’t buy – 113
- A day out, such as a Spa day – 21
- Jewellery – 8
- Wine or similar alcohol – 1
- A personalised gift from somewhere such as NotOnTheHighStreet.com – 28
So there we have it!
For the majority of Mums, (68%) their partner buys their card or gift.
Our Mum’s estimate that between £1- £20 is spent on them on average, the majority replying between £10 – £20.
54.5% of Mums think that they spend as much on Father’s day as is spent on them for Mother’s day but 30% say they spend more.
Here’s the big one:
The majority (64.2%) of our Mums say that they would like a handmade item from their children and a lie in or another gesture that money can’t buy.
