Mum Knows Best Warwickshire’s Christmas Party 2014
Raising money for Warwick Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit
Here we are again! Christmas is fast approaching and it was time for us to have a PARTY!
Following the success of last year’s Christmas Fayre which raised £600.00 for our nominated charity Warwick Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit. I decided that this year it would be a Christmas Fayre with the children in mind! I wanted to make sure that we provided a place for children to enjoy themselves too as so many fayres don’t have much in store for the little people. I wanted the children to take some benefits from our wonderful support group. It also meant that our Mums had the chance to meet up and let the children play while they enjoy a cuppa and maybe a mince pie and a browse around our stalls.
Starting at 10am the doors opened and lots of lovely families were ready to enjoy the fun! The stall holders were ready and waiting in the church area of the community centre.
At 10.30 the Children’s Disco started, this was manned by a wonderful local DJ named Ross who donated his time and equipment for free because his daughter had been in the special care baby unit when she was a baby and in Ross’s words ” I wanted to give something back, I owe SCBU my daughter’s life”. We were so grateful to Ross for his time and the children had a ball!
Shortly after that the wonderful Dandy Development held a wonderful toddler’s class where all the children (and parents) enjoyed lots of Dandy music and fun!
At 11:00 we had some VERY special visitors to our party! The children all had the chance to meet and party with Anna, Elsa and Olaf from Frozen!
And then ANOTHER special guest arrived!
Father Christmas met all the children at the party and then went to his grotto to make sure he got all the children’s special requests!
The lovely Katie from Mad Hatters Craft Studio was on hand to channel the children’s creative spirit and they all enjoyed painting some wonderful decorations to take home.
Alongside all these activities we had a cake stall, face painter, colouring, a table for children to write their letters to Father Christmas & post in our special post post box, parents could also fill out an NSPCC Letter From Santa form too!
On the day we had two competitions! A Name The Bear Competition and a raffle. All the prizes for these were kindly donated by local companies and people and we were very grateful to everyone who supplied a prize for our raffle, we could not have reached the fundraising total we did without you!
That brings me nicely on to our Fundraising Total!
Together we raised a tremendous ..
We were so delighted to have raised such a phenomenal amount of money for our nominated charity! Thank you so much to everyone who came along, had a stall or donated their time or a prize you have made all the difference and we are so grateful to each and every one of you!
ROLL ON 2015!
